I never think a vehicle with their hazards on is stopped. I assume they're having a problem with their car though for sure

The thing is literally everyone uses the hazards when they’re are hazards! Slow is still a hazard on a fast speed highway.

I have always been told that hazards are for letting others know your car isn't working at 100%, like if you're using a donut you can't go faster than 45mph so I put on my hazards so people don't get pissed off at me. kinda dumb that some states prohibit it.

Hard disagree. Obv can't disagree about the law part. But it's pretty normal where I live that if you suddenly come up to a full stop ahead on the highway, you throw on your hazards as you brake so people behind you get a better heads up and don't rear-end you. Also hazards don't affect brake lights.

uh there's states with signs that tell you to use hazards if your going a certain amount under the speed limit.....it should be the same in every state. If your on the highway going too slow you are a hazard. Pretty sure semis do this in every state also on highways especially if there's hills they can't get up easily

Ehh - this is like 85% accurate. They are HAZARD lights. You can use them to INDICATE A HAZARD… Like when you’re doing 70 around a turn and roll into BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC… Hit your hazards real quick to let those behind you know “THERES A HAZARD.”

What do you do whenever your vehicle is having an issue when you trying to limp it home? I see people put on their hazards for that quite often. I've done it a few times too.

In the UK, hazard warning lights are to warn other drivers of a hazard on the road. Not JUST for being broken down. For example if you’re on the motorway and you notice cars up ahead have stopped you put your hazards on to warn cars behind you that you’ll be slowing from 70 MPH to a complete stop.

What may have forgotten to be mentioned is that hazard lights make it harder to see your brake lights and turn signals, which usually increases risk of accidents. That’s why you shouldn’t do that. It’s stupid.

if you drive with your hazards on, then you have no way to indicate the turns you will make. the hazard lights use the same bulbs as your blinkers. so when you make a turn, nobody knows what you are doing.

around here people will use hazards if they are heading to an emergency (volunteer fire fighter or ems) or if they are heading to the hospital with a patient that couldn't wait for an ambulance

interesting. i once popped a tire on a the highway, and roadside assistance came and put a donut on it. i couldn’t go over 50-55mph with the donut, so i just stayed in the right lane with my hazards on til i got off the highway. was i in the wrong for that? IN btw
