Not every color appointment begins with lightener. When she sat in my chair, I immediately noticed multiple challenges: gray regrowth, banding, previous blonde that had become uneven, and significant breakage. Preserving the integrity of her hair was the priority, so instead of reaching for lightener, I chose a completely different approach. Using an Airtouch technique, I created soft, seamless lowlights rather than highlights. By selectively darkening the shorter hairs that naturally separate during the blow drying process, I was able to restore depth and dimension without creating harsh lines or a stripey result. Once the lowlights were complete, I followed with a custom root melt and gloss to soften the gray, refine the existing blonde, and create a more balanced, cohesive canvas. For her gray blending, I used a French blending technique with @lorealpro Dia color 5N + 15 volume, allowing for beautiful, soft coverage with a graceful grow out!! Perfect for clients who want a lower-maintenance color experience. This is just the beginning of her color correction journey. She’ll likely need another lowlight session to continue rebuilding dimension and achieving our long-term goal, but I’m so proud of what we accomplished in just one visit. Beautiful hair isn’t about chasing the lightest blonde it’s about creating customized color that respects the health of the hair and is designed specifically for the person wearing it.
