Burnout is real, and if you're bored of Big Tech, you should definitely go do what makes you happy. Some people genuinely love coding forever, and some don't, it's just preference. Just keep in mind that plenty of people actually working at gas stations or in other blue collar jobs would love to trade places with you and that $240k salary in a heartbeat!

ok but you dont need to worry about paying for food, for rent, medical bills, savings, you can pay to go on vacation, you have the CHOICE to leave as well, unlike people at the bottom

I got laid off from my CS job back in June. It’s been bliss being at home and cooking again to support my spouse better when he comes home from work. I rather start a food truck at this point and set my own hours around my husbands. Tech pays well, but progress can feel invisible and I feel like I’m constantly grinding for the next cert or constantly competing. I just want a slow life and to take care of my loved ones better. I feel like I’m always exhausted using my brain all day.
