@youthpastorryan: Reddit and JeffsNuts ended up solving a crime by having way too much oddly specific knowledge! Enjoy this wild and weird history that proves "useless" knowledge is only useless til it isn't!

Rhys Beynon :

"I'm telling you, a Buick Skylark could never have made those tracks!"

corgo ship :

Im starting to believe theres more knowledge in Reddit posts than there are letters within the books of the Library of Congress

Slavic Guy :

The combined power of adhd and autism is truly divine isn’t it. 😁

Jaye K :

Reddit posts from 13 years ago have come in mighty handy for me in the past. I love it.

hydraz11 🇨🇦🏳️‍🌈 :

The collective mind of humanity specifically for Reddit on this occasion, you should never be underestimated

Ushouldknow :

reddit has come in clutch on some WILD things

Chris :

Doc :

Reddit may be the Wild West of the internet, but it sure has helped me out more than I can count. [Tears of joy]

Annie Sheffield :

I used my understanding of license plate numbering systems to help a friend find a hit-and-run driver.

GraceCase_91 :

Real life "My Cousin Vinny" moment

⛧Alistair⛧ :

theres a reddit for Dragon Age Origins, and they have a pinned thread about how to mod DAO in order for it to run on modern computers. idk who spent the time making all the mods or making the walk throughs, but it has helped me so many times. same with Minecraft threads, vampire masquerade threads, literally anytime im stuck in a game for too long I check there

haxorflakes :

the fact that this was a solved hit and run that happened in my state is crazy.

GoostarionsTav :

Knowledge is power, there's no such thing as a useless fact, just a fact you haven't found a use for yet

meep :

You ever listen to the podcast about a high school class that solved a cold case?

Marcus :

Not useless, just unused

AnnieMac :

it's happened with tattoos too. Either people in the community recognise an artist's style, or a character that links to a niche sub culture.

forestsfae 🏳️‍⚧️ :

one day all of my octopus and bird facts will solve a murder

seejonesywalk :

reddit was so great before maxwell

Spooos :

fun fact, if I had a nickel for every time I listened to a horror story, and ended up getting updates PAST the original reddit story, I'd have 4-5 nickels

Jay walker :

Ryan I think you know too much mate

kiwi__arts42 :

My random food knowledge helped my girlfriend find out the reason Chick-fil-A use to make her sick is because they use pickle juice with their chicken

Joey_in_her_villian_era :

I call my brain the cesspool of useless knowledge. One day…one day…I’ll be the one to come up with some esoteric bit of random fact that solves a question!

Main.Man.Clark :

These people use FAA flight logs and the position of the sun via shadows on the ground to find out where people are on the planet. Its insanely impressive and kinda scary.

. :

It’s almost a guarantee someone on Reddit will have an answer to some really specific ass question you need an answer to. And I mean SPECIFIC, you can’t find the most general knowledge from there but if you have a borderline unsolvable problem they will know
