@artvangarde: Artist and designer Franz Ferdinand Münzing creates objects that exist between sculpture and functional design, often allowing materials and physical processes to determine their final form. His practice is connected to Berlin-based Kunstbau Weißensee. For his glass series SAG, Münzing begins with layers of waterjet-cut float glass rather than shaping a conventional vase. Inside the kiln, the glass is heated to around 800°C, becoming soft enough to sink through carefully positioned openings under its own weight. Gravity does the sculpting. The molten glass stretches downward and cools into irregular feet, while the openings remaining above become places for flowers. #art #artist #glass #flower #design
