@bastianosis: The ending of Mahler‘s 2nd Symphony has got to be one of the most epic finals ever written. The entire piece takes the listener on a emotional and philosophical journey, starting with anxiety of our mortality and existential dread, followed by beautiful memories, a dramatic continuation and different pespective on them, and lastly after all this anguish… the relief. Mahler Concludes in a appropraitely grandios manner the triumph over all those fears. Now for him it was the embracement of god and eternal life but i believe there is something more abstract in this music. The general acceptance and overcoming of our existential fears and the comfort and refuge of overcoming them.
