honestly the guy that fixed his opponent's arm probably did not care about the competition at all or sport in that moment he saw someone in pain and did something about it there's a lot of respect for this man and in my opinion that's good sportsmanship🥰

CAR-T therapy was invented in the United States. Increasingly, the patients who can actually afford it are flying to China to get it.   CAR-T therapy re-engineers a patient's own immune cells to hunt and destroy cancer, and it's already approved for blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. In the U.S., the full treatment costs between $550,000 and $850,000. In China, the same therapy runs $150,000 to $230,000 — often with recovery support included.   Cost isn't the only gap. Preparing a patient's bioengineered cells takes several weeks in the U.S., partly due to manufacturing bottlenecks; labs near Shanghai can produce the same cells in days. Dr. Sairah Ahmed, who directs the CAR-T program at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, has advised some of her own overseas patients to seek treatment in China instead, describing it plainly:

Preparing a patient's bioengineered cells takes several weeks in the U.S., partly due to manufacturing bottlenecks; labs near Shanghai can produce the same cells in days. Dr. Sairah Ahmed, who directs the CAR-T program at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, has advised some of her own overseas patients to seek treatment in China instead, describing it plainly: "China has basically done to CAR-T cell therapy the same thing that it's done to other industries — they've industrialized it."   Since 2023, Shanghai SinoUnited Hospital alone has treated roughly three dozen international patients from a dozen countries — including some referred from major American cancer centers like MD Anderson, Mayo Clinic, and Johns Hopkins. China has also pulled ahead on innovation, not just cost: in June, its regulators approved the world's first CAR-T therapy for a solid tumor, treating certain advanced stomach cancers, a milestone the U.S. hasn't yet reached.   Bioethicists note real tradeoffs for patients traveling abroad: fewer long-term safety records, no local doctor managing complications after they return home, and the need to clearly distinguish an approved treatment from an unproven trial. But for patients with aggressive, fast-moving cancers and price tags that would otherwise be unreachable, that tradeoff increasingly looks worth it.   source: The Wall Street Journal. (2026). Patients Are Flying to China for the Latest Cancer Treatment.
