@jenn_.c: On June 18, 2026, my mom woke up to go to her swimming class by our house, totally normal. A few hours later, while on my lunch break at work, I got a call that my mom was found unconscious in the pool showers. I screamed and cried at my desk and drove to the hospital an hour away. By the time we got to the hospital, the doctors told us my mom had gone through a ruptured brain aneurysm and severe brain bleed. She had gone through cardiac arrest and a stroke, her heart had stopped beating at some point. Within 30 minutes of seeing her, the doctors told us her condition was fatal. I will never forget the doctors telling us to take a seat to give us the news that my mom was not going to survive, that she was brain dead, and having to sign a DNR. All within an hour of seeing her. My mom was in the ICU on life support for 3 days, my family flew in from Texas and Mexico overnight, we all prayed and cried and begged to God that my mom would make it, a priest came in and blessed her everyday. We never left her side. Throughout all of this my mom would show small signs of life, her eyes would tear up, she smiled when she saw her grandkids, she would move her little feet every now and then. We had so much hope. On June 22, 2026, the doctors met with us and told us that it was her time. Her organs were failing and her condition was getting worse. We looked at my mom and knew it was her time. We waited for all of my family to arrive and unplugged her ventilator. She passed within 5 minutes at 8:43 PM. ❤️‍🩹 There are so many moments I cannot forget. Seeing my mom in the ER, her hair still wet from the pool, the machine beeping with the words “No Pulse” connected to her. I miss her and I love her so much. Mine and my family’s world turned into a nightmare just within a few hours, on a perfectly normal day. She was the heart of my family, she was our everything.
