Why can’t she comment that the baby looks like his dad’s family? I don’t get it.

My MIL raised the man I chose to spend my life with, and she did a great job. She has been a wonderful influence on my kids. I trusted her choices 100%.

Control is addictive. Protection is healthy. Make sure you aren't mixing the two up unnecessarily.

I think these boundaries are fine but I can feel the anger beneath them and wonder why

Why are new moms these days so mean to their MIL I just really don’t get it.. babies only thrive more when they are around all different kinds of love

Thankfully I have a wonderful DIL. She welcomed any help. After a few months you'll wonder WTF is my village?

The “can’t say baby looks like xyz” is weird to me. Both my kids look like their dad, and his family say it all the time. When my son was born, my partner mum said “oh I remember those little fingers” my son’s hands are shaped exactly like his dad’s. I don’t think it’s malicious. It’s just a mum seeing her baby in yours. I think it’s sweet

until you suddenly need a village. The relationship between your child and grandparents is the most important thing you'll give them best to nurture it.

I think some of the rules are completely valid and should be respected but others are a little bit too much

All seem reasonable until the ‘can’t mention the genetic traits they share with their father’s side of the bloodline’…… why?!

Wow! This is awful! Mother in laws and mums and aunties are an important privilege and should be apart of your village in raising your children. I understand you have boundaries and generational differences in how our kids are raised but this is super harsh. I am lucky enough to have my MIL who is a valuable part of my childrens upbringing. She would drop anything to pick them up in an emergency, she bakes for them, shows up to their sporting, schooling and other milestones. She helps them grow. Rules like this show your insecurities- let your gaurd down girl, you will need this woman in your life even if you cant see it just now.x

WOW!! You are really working on alienating your MIL why? I would have been thrilled if my MIL would have taken my baby for a walk while I had a little rest.

Girl these comments are toxic. Hold your boundaries. If they can’t respect simple things they won’t respect you or your child in the future. I asked my in laws to NOT give my daughter who literally choked on milk frosting st 3 months old. Guess what she did?

Maybe just remember your beautiful daughter will benefit from relationships with lots of women. Especially her grandmothers and aunties.
