This is how it's always been with the UN and all these places. The people who are most impacted are sidelined. Sudan is a great example - especially stark considering the US already declared what's happening there to be genocide. The partition of India/Pakistan was done by someone who barely knew anything about the region. I remember when I was reading The Hundred Years' War on Palestine, there were so many sections talking about Palestinians not being involved in the process. The US is deeply partnered with the UAE etc - The US is going to do what keeps their puppet states happy.
