it’s easy to use veganism as an excuse to restrict yourself from certain foods, but you can make basically anything vegan! keep your diet the same and just find vegan recipes for the foods you already eat :)

I was super weird about textures for a lot of my life, and being vegan essentially solved it for me, bc no matter the texture it's just a fruit, vegetable, bean, nut, or grain. You may have a similar experience!

Meet with a nutritionist. Being vegan already limits what you can eat tremendously and that’s asking for a problem. See a professional so you can live the lifestyle you want in the healthiest way

Do you possibly have arfid? I’m not vegan personally, but I also have arfid, and what you’re describing with your eds and texture issues, while vague, it sounds a lot like arfid

slowly start replacing things, don't just jump straight in, maybe try frozen premade veggie options first

like the top comment says, you can make a lot of recipes you already like and find vegan substitutes. just play around with different foods, but remember you don't have to jump right in. you can start by trying vegetarianism. if you make foods and can't find a substitute for eggs, you can be vegan but eat eggs until you find a change you enjoy. it's not black and white, and it's your diet. just try things until you find what you like

I’m a vegetarian, but something that helped me was think about what I already eat that’s vegetarian and work off of that

Idk what your particular texture sensitivities are but you’ll find something you like. It’ll just take some time to try different alternatives. That’s usually the easiest thing to do is swap out what you already like with vegan alternatives, however if you like vegetables it’ll be even easier because then you can just look up vegan specific recipes (which tend to be very vegetable heavy). I had texture issues mainly with meat (fat and gristle) and actually found myself more willing to try new foods after going vegan because atleast I didn’t have to deal with those textures anymore. Also if you know you’re going somewhere where food will be involved but most likely no vegan option, bring snacks (or a premade meal if it’s something like a family get together) so it doesn’t become a way to restrict. 💕

It might help to start slowly with vegan options or even vegetarian first and slowly including more and more vegan foods into your diet so its not changing too fast and you can get used to the different tastes and textures

A lot of it is swapping! While veganism is a lot of veggies, fruits, and not so filling foods, there’s always proteins like vegan patties and what not that will still be the same but plant based! I struggle with an ED and while I’m not vegan, I get why you’d want to be and the hardship of it, but there’s still lots of filling and nutrient packed meals that aren’t made of genuine meat but don’t look like you’re having a salad once a day♥️

I’m thinking I might go vegan when I get older, but fb the odds are against me 😖 (for context I have sensory issues, a history of EDs, and I’m a minor with no job so I can’t really buy my own food) i probably will have to wait a while but when I get a steady income I’ll definitely do a lot of research and see if it’s possible for me :D

I don’t have an ED so take what I say with a grain of salt but I don’t view the vegan diet as restrictive at all. I simply refuse to see animals’ body parts or secretions as food. Once you set your mind to only eat food that doesn’t come from exploitation, you can eat whatever you want!

Go slow. I have autism and it makes me really sensitive to certain textures and tastes (for example the powderyness/dryness in legumes)+ a history of EDs and you really just need to ease into it. Start by slowly becoming vegetarian and then from there slowly cut out animal products. If you dive into it all at once you wont last very long. And dont think it will prevent you from eating ur fave foods! there's so many genuinely good vegan alternatives out there
