@getsafaripaws: One of nature’s rarest sights — an albino elephant. 🐘🤍 Albinism is caused by reduced or absent melanin, giving affected elephants their unusually pale appearance. While beautiful, this lack of pigmentation can leave their skin and eyes more sensitive to intense sunlight. For a young calf in the wild, that can create additional challenges — making shade, mud and the protection of its family herd especially important. 🥹🐾 Despite looking so different, albinism itself isn’t a disease. This little elephant is simply an extraordinarily rare example of nature’s diversity. Different, rare and absolutely beautiful. 🤍🐘
