@phoebe131111: I’m not one to post these videos usually. My son does many things to make me proud and has come a very long way. Meltdowns are much less now and I am so grateful for that. However, as a single parent the older he gets- the bigger he gets. And the scarier it gets for me. Because some days even if I try my absolute best to avoid a meltdown- something will trigger him- and I end up being the ones he takes it out on. I want to clarify this is not violence. He isn’t doing this to hurt me on purpose. He doesn’t know what to do in this situation with his emotions and hitting makes the most sense. He also feels very guilty afterwards and will mention it and cry for days usually. He does not like doing this. But he can’t help it. Again I don’t like sharing this but if I only share the happy and good times then nobody will realize that this is a lot of parents’ reality behind closed doors. #autism #autismawareness #asd #reality
