For today’s 1%: I travelled by myself for the first time. Hey I’m Bri and this is my one percent series where I try to change my life 1% at a time. I shared that earlier this year I took my entire savings to make one of my dreams come true. Seeing the wonders of the world. Every other month I’m leaving to a new wonder and discovering new cultures, and precious life lessons. It’s def been my eat pray love year that I wanted to give myself when I turned 30. For majority of these trips: I fully paid to take a loved one with me so that they could experience this precious memory as well. But there’s two countries where I chose to go by myself. Egypt and India. So much of this year is facing my fears, and I was terrified traveling alone. I was scared I wouldn’t know where to go, I would miss a connecting flight. I would lose my things or do something wrong. And if you also have this fear… you’re not alone. Take a deep breath and let me be the proof that it’ll all be okay. While traveling, I noticed even though I was alone I was never lonely. God really blessed me with community during my flight going to Egypt and back home were both almost 30 hours long. During that time I had these precious heart to hearts with whoever sat next to me. Like on my first flight it was this sweet family who was supporting their son starting Art school. To see them support his dreams and passions, I felt so inspired. On the second flight I got nervous. Fun fact I’m very chlostrophobic and a lot of this trip involved being in tight spaces. The long hours on a plane made me feel anxious. I was reading my partners letter while trying to breathe. How can I see the world when riding planes are so hard. There’s an older man next to me who noticed I looked scared. And he told me he has a daughter my age and she’s nervous on planes too. He shared how he was visiting her for holiday, how everything was going to be okay. We both shared precious memories about my dad and his daughter and next you know I landed. Every flight there was something that brought me comfort, that made me feel safe until I got to my destination. All this to say, I know flying can be scary for some people. But don’t let it stop you from seeing the world, from meeting a loved one, from experiencing life. if I didn’t do this solo trip, I wouldn’t have experienced a life changing trip. Take the risks, god is there to hold you through it. and that’s my 1%. #travel #egypt
