so yes it's expensive I am a contractor but will give you a little help understanding cost. So regular pressure treated wood steps cost of material alone is 1,400 add labor at 1,200 delivery 100 removal of old material 400 your somewhere around $3,100.00 if you go composite steps add at least 1,400 to 2,000 in material cost because of color an screws have to be different railing requires more parts. Add some labor costs as well cause it takes longer. 4,000 to 6,000 depending on color an material cost have skyrocketed

Or cut the top of each step down 20 30 mm then build brick work round the step and put slabs on top

we used hydraulic cement comes in a gray and white band looks like about a 5 lb bag of sugar man it's fast you makes it water and I mean it gets hard fast

We had this issue and build wooden steps on top. Very expensive to replace cement.

What pre installation steps did you take to prep the area? It also it looks like that's stuff might not take the stress of stepping all those steps, and I think it's in the fail eventually
