I think the reason we’re both confused is because the newer lore makes Lumine and Asmoday’s history seem like it happened before the opening scene. If Asmoday was already Lumine’s companion/interacting with her before the opening confrontation, then that would mean their relationship happened sometime after the twins arrived in Teyvat but before the scene where both twins fight Asmoday and get separated. That’s what makes the timeline confusing, because the original opening made it seem like the twins basically arrived in Teyvat and then immediately encountered Asmoday. But now we’re being told there were events involving Lumine, her sibling, the spaceship, Paimon, and Asmoday that happened before that opening scene. So I’m not saying the story is definitely a plot hole, because there could still be something we’re missing or a future explanation. I’m just saying I understand why you’re confused, because the game hasn’t clearly connected all of these events together yet.

okay so for what we understand, everything is a time loop. when the twins are leaving through Celestia, that isn't when lumine is summoned. that is after she has been summoned. after she has been through everything. she is getting Ather to flee. but Asmoday "loves her new master more than her self", that's when they're trying to flee, she takes lumine back, and separates the twins. the unknown specified amount of time passes between when the twins are separated and when we meet paimon. there's another way you could view this. that when they are trying to flee, lumion is summoned that day with the help of Asmoday and then the 500 years go by before Ather reawakens. I would highly recommend watching videos made by ashikai. she does big deep dives in lore.

What you’re saying is making sense you’re making me think because I’ve never really thought about the plot. I just played the game. The way the events don’t lineup I think before all of this happened asmodus and Lumine was friends. They were traveling together then both of the siblings wanted to leave Celestia. That’s when asmoday stepped in and made the twins separate. After that, the current twin they were playing woke up. In tayvet but before he woke up. Lumine was already on tayvet that mean aether was asleep for 500 years or more so when paimon woke us up, that was when Lumine avengers was reaching its end. That’s why he was starting to search for her. I don’t know. I think I’m trying to put something together, but it’s not making sense.
