Yesterday a homeless man, clearly on something, asked me to buy him some alcohol. I instead got him some water, soda and a variety of snacks instead. It cost me $27 dollars and he was shocked at how kind of a gesture it was, thanked me and wandered off. I went back to my car and started bawling. I wish I could have given him a place to stay, I wished I had bought more stuff for him, I wish I could have helped him more. I don’t think I’ll ever be the same after that interaction.

It might sound stupid, but ever since I watched Superman last year, I can't just ignore other people's struggles anymore. There's this feeling that makes me slow down a bit and help out, and even if I am not in a position to help them, or if I'm in a rush and I can't go back, that thought haunts me for the rest of the day. Empathy is such a beautiful, and somewhat hurtful feeling sometimes.

I JUST did this with a homeless man. Sat and talked about our lives and how we got here. He didn’t want my burrito but I insisted. He ate every crumb.

everyday after work i get a free mini pizza. i gave it to the same old lady sleeping and reading by the bus stop (usually around 10-1am)until i stopped seeing her roughly a week ago. Im scared to think she passed.
