Nursing literally tells us that the Z track method is the best 🙄

Z-Track method is best practice to prevent medication from leaking out of puncture. Also aspiration is no longer recommended for IM injections.

You can not be serious? Always grasp the muscle. It lessens the pain

Dude pinching makes the injection hurt considerably less! With insulin, heparin, or whatever. I get compliments all the time saying they didn’t feel anything when they were stuck

I commented some tips on the original video, similar to what you said here, and so many people flamed me in the comments. The biggest issue for me is the medication leaking out. Because what's the point of getting a vaccine if you don't get half the dose?

I think it’s best practice for IM injections you should always aspirate back to make sure you aren’t in a blood vessel - who said that’s a vaccine you don’t want to give things meant for IM IV route because you didn’t pull back on a plunger

As a nurse who had a med assistant put my flu vaccine into my shoulder bursa and cause me 6 months of limited ROM and severe pain..I prefer people who do mine to go a little lower now. I’m older and my deltoid sags a bit these days😂

1. z-track. 2. once needle is inserted, release the z-track and stabilize the needle just above the hub 3. inject, slow and steady.
I've taught this a million times, yet people really are stubborn to learn it

Z track is great for older kids and adults. As a pedi nurse giving IM injections to a 5 yr old for school…I don’t have the hands to do a z track while holding the arm still and give the injection. I’m going for safety of both the child and me by holding that kid still.

I’m going to give this video grace! I can tell they are PRACTICING… so your first time is not going to be perfect and you do tend to be nervous you first go around. They will get better
