@floraznavi: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind was the foundation on which Studio Ghibli was built. It fostered Miyazaki’s first audience and gave him the freedom to develop his craft. The manga began in 1982 and became a 12-year project, eventually being adapted into an animated film in 1984. Yet it remains one of his most overlooked works. Heavily inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune, from its vast landscapes to its environmental themes, Miyazaki created a beautiful world centered around Nausicaä. Her character was inspired by Nausicaa from Homer’s Odyssey, the princess who encounters and helps the shipwrecked Odysseus. Miyazaki took her kindness and nurturing nature and used them as the foundation for his own character. #nausicaaofthevalleyofthewind #studioghibli #edit #dune
