@bailey.artstudios: I didn’t fully appreciate the value of wedding guests’ reactions until recently. Don’t get me wrong - I knew I was entertaining. BUT when your back is turned to the party for a majority of the night, it can be hard to tell what kind of impact you’re making. So I’ve been gradually strategizing, tweaking, and innovating wedding by wedding, until I achieve the optimal guest experience. What does that mean? Well to me it means that 1) wedding guests have a visible reaction to the painting towards the end of the night And 2) they can envision where the painting is going, or even better, think it’s done as is Achieving this takes a fair amount of planning and time management. I can’t paint a painting the same way I would in studio, it needs to come together in a way that makes sense to the guests. They need to be able to see familiar faces and shapes early on in the process. And of course, it means mastering filming when guests do show up (because there’s not enough phone storage in the WORLD to film for the entire night for each wedding 😅) What do you think? Are live paintings a good addition to a wedding?
