My OCD is so tiring, I’ve had every theme in the book. I seem to beat one theme, and the OCD latches onto another theme and it’s just this viscous cycle. It’s as if it were conscious just trying to make my life miserable on purpose.

recently i’ve started to have some moments of peace and presence, but when it flares up i feel like it’s actually real in the moment and that it is the exception to ocd. it’s so challenging

I think the major problem I have with using phrases like “curing” OCD is because it is registered “relief” in the mind of someone with OCD (ie., “so you’re saying there’s hope? That I won’t always have these terrible thoughts?”). There’s a ton of relief in that statement, and that relief is the gas that fuels the engine of the spiral. Consensus also states that OCD, while very capable of being managed successfully, is a chronic disorder. The trick to living with OCD is to let go of the “need” to make our thoughts go away, instead of trying - endlessly - to do so.
