The modesty rules for swim trunks also apply to men. Showing their knees and ankles is also considered taboo. Pretty crazy though.

As part of lifeguard training we had to jump in the deep end in jeans and hoodies, remove them (wearing swimsuits underneath), and use the heavy clothes to make flotation devices. But yeah, don't swim in denim!
