There’s also a control aspect. They get to enforce their rules and expectations as long as you’re “under their roof” it kinda sucks but I want to go to med school so moving out is just not an option 🥲🥲

no shade, but 21 isnt a "very young age". your a FULL grown adult by 21, a very normal age to be moving out regardless if ur household was good or bad. why would you wanna be 21+ living with ur parents....

When everyone around me tells me I’m being dramatic, it’s a money saver or to just wait but I’m stuck taking my siblings to and from school/appointments, buying them and my parents groceries, and basically being the third parent on top of my own school (double major) and work (2 jobs) but I can’t stop because “tu eres la hermana grande y tienes que ayudar”

I mean I’m MexAm and get this to an extent but all you have to do is say no and move on. My parents wanted me to go to a local community college and turn down a scholarship to a flagship state school 5 hrs away and I told them that was obviously stupid and they relented. Moved away for college and never looked back for 10 years. You just have to learn to say no.
