it sucks because that would have been the moment in most movies where he saves the girl, brings her with him, and they leave together and he realizes he wants to be a father. Sadly, this movie was not like most movies

SPOILERS!!! The scene did disturb me the more I thought about it. This is a little girl who had no idea what was happening, her mom suddenly turned on her, and she didn’t know if anyone was coming. Then to add onto that, her body betrays her, doing things it’s not meant to do, forcing sudden changes that is agonizing to her. All she wanted was help, she just wanted to be safe again, but her own body was the danger, and she didn’t understand that she couldn’t escape that.

Kinda poetic and ironic how he got infected by a KID. The thing he's so worried about throughout the movie, the CHILD of his and Michelle. In this essay I will explain how Resident Evil's (the movie) whole purpose was to show the scariness of avoiding change and how thats best explained through the connection of children and the virus(I've never played any of the games or anything I just watched the movie literally 10 minutes ago).
