They aren’t necessarily resting as they also have families and communicate underground with each other. If a tree is sick - other trees try to heal it through this system. It’s why tree farm trees are susceptible to more bugs and insects. They are essentially orphans trees without the family network that older forests have. Highly recommend the books: finding the mother tree and the hidden life of trees

If reincarnation is real, I hope I come back as a tree as well. Or as a bird so I can experience true freedom. But I would actually prefer not to come back. I hope my soul gets far far away from this place, or , if we have to stay, that I wander earth in an invisible form. Everyone should read the book “between death and life” it talks about how if we had a traumatic death or life and need rest we could choose to go to a place where that’s all there is. Resting. It sounds nice. Then you can choose to start again, and your soul grows more wise each life you choose to live
