@gabbytalkstech: Why are there still so many Al coding companies when Claude Code and Codex are so good? Al coding just doesn't display the characteristics of a winner-take-all market. There are four characteristics of WTA market: 1. Are there strong network effects? 2. Is it hard for one person to use many of these products? 3. Can competitors differentiate? 4. Are there high barriers to entry? Here's my analysis of the Al coding market against this criteria. #coding #claudecode #codex #openai #anthropic
Thats not true. Claude code definitely has network effects. Within a company’s corporate codebase, one team using claude code will ship better. That will motivate others to use it too. One level up, the same would apply to companies. To support varied companies’ needs, Claude will incorporate new features. And its a flywheel. A company with less than a fifth of users will loose on features - and with more traffic, Claude will realize economies of scale with token prices. Winner does take all here, maybe a duopoly.
