#TESLA The new Tesla Roadster literally sucks itself to the road. Tesla says fans underneath the car pulls air out from beneath it, creating a low-pressure area that holds it against the surface with the system generating up to 2 g’s of suction, enough to hold the car upside down. That same system presses the tires harder against the road, giving them more grip for acceleration, braking, and cornering. Unlike conventional aero, which relies on speed to build downforce, the fans can create that extra grip even at low speeds. Bro… that means cornering beyond 2 g’s… The Roadster can adjusts its aero as its speed changes, with a variable-pitch rear wing and both high-downforce and low-drag modes. Elon described the feeling, “You can corner like it looks like you’re breaking physics bc the car sticks to the ground so hard… This car could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.” And this is just the system that keeps it ON the road. Add the SpaceX thrusters, and you start to understand why the 0–60 number was never going to tell the whole story. Tesla and SpaceX are truly pushing what we thought a car could do…
