5. Answer (Shia perspective – Prophet saw and his family teachings):
The Islamic inheritance system is not "man gets double, woman gets half" in every case. It's a complex system with dozens of scenarios. In many cases, a woman inherits equally — or even more — than a man. For example:
• A mother and father inherit equally from their deceased child.
• A husband inherits half from his wife if she has no children — while a wife inherits only a quarter from her husband in the same case.
• If a woman has no brothers, she may inherit the entire estate.
And the reason for the difference where it exists is simple: the man pays, the woman keeps.
In Islam, the man is obligated to pay maintenance — housing, food, clothing, his wife's needs, his children's needs, even his parents' needs. The woman has zero financial obligation. She keeps 100% of her wealth. So when a man gets a larger share in some cases, it's because he is forced to spend it on others. The woman's share is hers alone.
Now to the Western lifestyle:
You call the Western 50:50 system superior? Let's look at what it produces.
In the West, "equality" means a woman must work the same hours, pay the same bills, split everything 50:50 — and often still carry the emotional and domestic load. She's told she's "liberated" while being crushed by rent, taxes, and the cost of living. And in some cases — when the system fails her — she has to sell her body just to survive, just to provide her "equal" share.
Some equality.
In Islam, the man carries the financial burden. The woman keeps her wealth. Her inheritance is not a privilege — it's a protection. She is not forced into the workforce to prove her worth. She is not forced to split bills to be "equal." She is not forced to sell herself to survive.
