Henry: “I’ve been stabbed.” Police: “I don’t think you have, mate.” Harrowing police body cam footage shows Henry Nowak’s final moments, as the 18-year-old pleads with police, telling officers, “I can’t breathe” and “I’ve been stabbed”, after being handcuffed. Henry, a first-year university student, was stabbed multiple times by Vickrum Digwa, with a ceremonial dagger in Southampton in December 2025. The 23-year-old then lied to police saying he was the victim of racism, and Henry was arrested. He died at the scene. The footage, released a day after Digwa was jailed for a minimum of 21 years, shows Henry telling police he can’t breathe multiple times, and that he has also been stabbed, to which an officer replies: “I don’t think you have, mate.” The police watchdog is now investigating the way police handled the case which has sparked a national outrage.
