I had my son arrested 20 years ago. He is in a stable loving marriage with a child and is doing well. But he has never forgiven me for calling the police. That’s ok because I know he was dangerous to himself and others at the time. I can live with this.

My son was arrested in 2019. He’s deaf w/ ODD and he has cognitive &developmental delays. He got angry &bashed my head in the wall 3x &trashed the living room (one episode) The state/county pressed charges. He’s never lost his temper like that again. He makes sure he takes his medicine religiously. He’s 28 now.

Nope, I’m right there with you. I’m an attorney, and my husband has joked that I’ll get our son’s ass out of jail in a second. I immediately correct him and said absolutely not, our son is sitting in jail and going through the CJ system. I unconditionally love my son, but he needs to learn and deal with the fact he ruined someone else’s life.

From a DV survivor I want to say thank you for this. If my abusers enabling family would have treated him they way he deserved maybe I wouldn’t have had to go thru what I did for 15 years. They would bail him out of jail immediately and pay all his legal bills on top of lying in court and to other members of their church. People need accountability from their actions.

I kicked my son out of my home at 16. He was doing drugs and was warned multiple times to stop. My last ultimatum was you can either stop or you can move out and he decided to move out. It’s called tough love. Sadly, we live in a society now where everybody feels bad for everybody and there are no consequences. I applaud you, mama.🥰 I also know how difficult it is to do what you are doing.
