it's crazy that just rent alone is up to 1/2 of our monthly pay. I'm lucky in that my rent is only about 1/3 of my take home, but it's still a huge chunk of change every month. $1000+ is a lot of money but because it's the only way to have shelter, we have to pay it. there's no other monthly expense that demands as much of our paycheck as rent does. why does it have to be like this??? genuinely why??

$3000 isn't even unusual in my city... 🥲 and that's for a terrible apartment that's a hazard to your health and held together by cheap paint and glue (I wish I was exaggerating)

Not everywhere tho unforch. I lived in Spain and made a Spanish salary and rent is EASILY way more than the average salary. I rented a room in a shared apartment and it was a little more than half my monthly salary. For a ROOM. Not even with a private bathroom
