Every community has a toxic side, it's not that deep. Your whole criticism is basically you saying you want visual novels to be more popular without giving any real reason, you should at least provide one. And denigrating the target audience because they're “losers” isn't a real criticism.

Visual novels is a medium that has very little mainstream potential, they are essentially 80+ hour books and with the modern generations attention span dropping like crazy it’s making it even more so an impossible concept to realize. Another point I want to add is the visual novel space is DEEPLY otaku culture so to be honest the response you get towards these videos is kinda expected… (not that I condone the racist chuds) you are not only attacking/insulting the core of a dying culture but simultaneously calling for change, it’s as you said yourself the medium itself is weird but that’s because it wants to be, you can’t just scrub the eroge out of the community, it doesn’t work that like that you also say this while ignoring the many all ages VNs that are popular, what you are saying quite literally exist and it’s already in the culture it’s not a magic that will rejuvenate the community unfortunately
