It is actually a method of journaling! I’ve done it too.

Is it just squiggles? If it calms your mind or soothes you it’s therapeutic 🤷♀️not necessarily “journaling” but maybe it can be more mindfulness or meditation idk depends what you get out of it.

Inexperienced here but intrigued and might try this. If I had to guess: You’re hands scribbling is similar to fidgeting which helps the brain flow naturally sometimes. And with the scribbling you can control the amount of pressure, the speed, etc which allows you to fidget at a pace that matches your emotions. It may not be words but it is journaling in a way that allows you to express and flow but not go back a reread and obsess over a specific thought or train of thought. I think it could be very productive.

lol I used to listen to podcasts or music and would write a random word and whenever I finished that word the next word I heard I’d write and so on. I had notebooks full of jibberish sentences. Just words slung together with no meaning. But later I could go back and read them and know what song or what podcast I was listening to when I wrote it.

wait actually yes i saw another tiktok sometime last year about this kind of thing and it’s specifically really good for journaling things you may not want to actually read again, bc the journaling helps get it out of your head and helps you process it. and you can push it further process your feelings by journaling those too, but then let it all fade with time and inability to read it

I would do this when I needed the... I guess "ritual"... of writing my feelings or thoughts but dont want to risk it being read (like while im at work)

It is! I know I have words and thoughts on there but no one else has to know what they are. And I love that I can know what feelings are there without being able to read it back and dwell on things.

Writing like this helps so you can’t go back & dwell on those thoughts or feelings at that time. Release what’s on your mind at that & let it go.

I was able to release grief from a tragic loss of my dog with this method. I never needed to reread it, I just needed to get it out.

When I lived at home my parents would go through my journal. I never picked my pen up and wrote in the most unreadable way to the point where I wouldn’t even be able to read it and honestly I always felt so much better than just writing things down that happened.
