A good programmer to build something like this would charge at least 100 dollars an hour, that's 4,000 in just one week and you'd need an animator as well.

it was my hobby for many years , modeling in 3D making textures and building some fun stuff in Unity and UE , but AI completely made me lost interest in what i was doing , knowing it can do in 3 - 5 hours what i learned for 5 years kinda hard to process

until you realize AI can't come up with new ideas, just regurgitates old ones. and building something original on top of the ai slop will be trash and have all sorts of compatibility issues and conflicts. this type of "playable" island is just a 3d model with a camera attached to a pair of legs. trying to do anything interesting with it is a waste

Context: The $1874 is kinda misleading.. he didnt swipe his card for $1874. hes on the $200 Max plan and that run ate 59% of his weekly quota. $1874 is basically the API equivalent of the tokens, also this thing is way more than the video shows.. custom WebGPU renderer, shaders, 18 fish species, fishing economy, boat, day/night, clouds, reef, whale etc, and he kept building AFTER the original $1874 run.. so the final game probably cost even more compute and the total prompt runs is still unknown.
