@caseymillsaps2: Man, how was this 2 years ago? WNC never saw or predicted floods to come like Helene. It hit hard, fast, and without much warning. This event is what really nudged me to go all in on aviation. Having an actual purpose to fly and help others was a great feeling. NC is where my family is from and I am grateful to have had a small part in the relief effort. I am equally as grateful for each and every donation and pilot who contributed to the effort. #mountainstrong #wncstrong #aviationlovers #helene #hurricanehelene

When people ask me what my most memorable flight was, I think of the two days I spent in Appalachia. It still brings tears to my eyes.

I’m about 20 minutes from Lake Lure. We had a ton of devastation on our property it our home was fine and we were only without power a little over a week. I have so much appreciation for the people that could be boots on the ground help! I couldn’t with a special needs toddler but we packed emergency kits and toiletries and collected donations to send up. My brother took an entire year off to volunteer in Bat Cave. The whole situation still just blows my mind

God bless all of the Volunteers that spent their time and money to help people they didn't even know. Everyone is a "HERO". Aren't there still some places that don't have housing and roads to get in and out? God bless each and every one... ❤️❤️❤️

We are running missions from Bristol down into the hardest hit hollers, hauling the same things: chainsaws generators propane, warm weather gear. A big thank you to y'all and all the helicopter pilots as well that got to the places that even after a month, the last mission we ran to, Black Mountain, people still couldn't get to the top they were still trying to clear roads and find ways in and out and y'all were the folks that were able to get up there to them. I think a lot of us started out knowing we had to help and just headed up there and we didn't know where we were heading to but God directed all of us! It's very hard to look back on. I've been going back every couple of months and I'm heading up tomorrow night, it's sad to see areas that still haven't had any progress but then it's very inspiring to see the areas like Chimney Rock that have been able to do a lot of rebuilding

One of the finalizing inspirations before I started flying was seeing all the pilots help during this time on tik tok. Something I always wanted to do didn’t think I could. ✨✈️
