You are storing your pasta correctly. Hot into dish + into the fridge immediately. Letting it cool down by leaving it out risks introducing B. Cereus food poisoning. You need to cool the food down fast, and the only way to do that is to seal it up + refrigerate it.

No one seems to be able to answer so I will. You can put the lid on that’s fine. It’s putting the hot food in the fridge. It can change the internal temp of the fridge and cause food that is near it to change temp and cause bacteria to grow.

You need to let the food cool down before putting the lid on it, otherwise it’s much harder and takes longer for the food to cool off which can put it into the food danger zone.

Babysitting fyi. It's completely legal to cuss out anyone who treats you like this and drop their kids off at the police station. Anyone who judges you on doing this is a neglectful parent who would also abandon their kids on you.

Bacteria is the reason you shouldn’t seal hot food, bacteria LOVES heat, and trapping said heat could start a lot of bacteria growth!
