Actually the Romans encountered the Picts and decided that a wall was better than fighting them. Later, the Scoti came over to Caledonia from Hibernia and fought with the Picts. They later amalgamated with them and it became Scotland, interestingly not Pictland.

Not true. The Romans conquered up past Aberdeen. The Caledonians surrendered. The Romans left after a couple of years, but they did keep 2/3 of Scotland for those couple of years.
