Your mind wants answers. Your body wants expression. We are wired to make sense of our experiences and try to figure out why we feel the way we do. To trace it back to childhood, identify the pattern, find the lesson, and understand where it came from. This gives us a false sense of safety. And while awareness is powerful… Awareness alone doesn’t create change. Because you don’t feel with your mind. You feel with and through your body. Sometimes the most supportive thing you can do isn’t ask yourself, “Why am I feeling this?” It’s asking, “What does this feeling need from me right now?” Maybe it needs tears or a scream. Maybe it needs movement or a breath. Maybe it needs to be witnessed and experienced instead of explained. This is why I love somatic work so much. It invites you to move out of analysis and into expression. To let your body finish what your mind keeps interrupting. Not every emotion needs to be solved. Some emotions simply need to be felt. Because the moment you stop trying to control the experience and start allowing it… something shifts. Your nervous system realizes it doesn’t have to stay braced against the feeling anymore, but that it’s safe to actually feel it. And that’s where so much freedom lives. Not in understanding every emotion… But in trusting yourself enough to experience it. Save this as a reminder for the next time you catch yourself living in your head instead of listening to your body. And another reminder… Dropping into your body, sparking that flow of energy to feel, and expression can also just look like you dancing freely in a crowd full of people. There is no one practice that can support you in becoming more fully expressed. 💖
