@themesomayhem: MONDAY: A significant flash-flood threat will develop across portions of the Southwest and Four Corners, where a Moderate Risk of excessive rainfall is in place. A surge of deep tropical moisture associated with the remnants of Hurricane Polo will interact with strong upper-level forcing, producing widespread showers and thunderstorms with locally intense rainfall. The WPC expects widespread rainfall totals of 1–3 inches, with locally higher amounts possible, especially across areas with saturated soils, steep terrain, and burn scars. Surrounding areas under a Slight Risk should also remain alert for localized flash flooding, particularly where storms repeatedly move over the same locations. (Weather Prediction Center) TUESDAY: The heavy-rain threat will expand eastward and southeastward from the Southwest into the Southern High Plains, with a Moderate Risk extending across portions of southeastern Arizona, New Mexico, southeastern Colorado, and toward the Texas Panhandle and northwest Texas. Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected as the remnants of Polo become absorbed into a larger upper-level trough, while increasing low-level moisture fuels additional rainfall across the Plains. Some of the heaviest rainfall is expected across the Texas Panhandle and northwest Texas, where repeated storms could produce numerous instances of flash flooding. A broader Slight Risk surrounds the Moderate area and extends farther northeast into portions of the Central Plains, where locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding will also be possible. (Weather Prediction Center) WEDNESDAY: The focus will shift farther east into the Southern Plains, with a Moderate Risk now covering portions of southeastern Colorado and northeastern New Mexico as well as areas from central and North Texas into south-central Oklahoma. This could become a particularly concerning period as deep tropical moisture remains in place while the upper-level system slowly progresses eastward. Repeated rounds of thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall over areas that have already received substantial precipitation during the previous two days, increasing the potential for rapid runoff and flash flooding. The surrounding Slight Risk extends across a much broader portion of the Southwest, Southern and Central Plains, and into parts of the Mississippi Valley, meaning locations outside the Moderate Risk should not let their guard down. (Weather Prediction Center) THURSDAY: The flash-flood threat will continue shifting east across Texas and Oklahoma, with the WPC placing a Moderate Risk from south-central Texas through North Texas and into south-central and southeastern Oklahoma. This includes portions of the I-35 corridor, where persistent moisture, strong atmospheric forcing, and repeated thunderstorms could result in significant rainfall and rapidly developing flash flooding. The threat may be especially concerning in locations that receive heavy rain on Wednesday, as additional rainfall could occur before the ground has time to recover. A surrounding Slight Risk extends from Texas northeastward toward the Arkansas/Missouri border, with additional areas of the Lower Mississippi Valley also facing the potential for locally excessive rainfall.
