3.0+1.0 rebuild was so disappointing as a massive Eva fan. Shinji ending up with a plot device that had a combined screen time of 15 minutes just isn’t satisfying for a happy ending when we have 2 iconic options RIGHT there being Kaworu or asuka who he canonically liked, that and his progression is far more rushed+he does far worse things and gets less punishment for it, of Shinji got A FAR worse treatment for smaller things.
