@cjustastick: Indonesia’s Lapas Cibinong is under investigation after Ombudsman RI discovered what it described as a suspected “luxury cluster” during a surprise inspection on September 23. The area, separated from ordinary inmate blocks, reportedly contained apartment-like rooms with sofas, TVs, refrigerators and other household facilities, alongside a gym and a golf simulator under construction. Ombudsman officials also reported finding alcoholic drinks and said they encountered people suspected of being inmates inside the area, including one person who identified himself as a prisoner. Prison authorities disputed the allegation, saying the buildings were staff housing and part of an assimilation area, while the government launched a deeper investigation into how the facilities were actually being used. The controversy has since escalated, with Cibinong Prison chief Wisnu Hani Putranto and four other officials temporarily removed from their positions while authorities investigate the Ombudsman’s findings.
