Taking things personally at work isn't a sensitivity problem. Nobody taught you how to do this. Review season is September to December. Every "let's circle back," every flat tone, you're losing sleep over it while they're just writing your review. Here's how to stop it: 1️⃣ Separate tone from content. Someone can sound irritated and still be making a valid point. Ask yourself what was actually said before reacting to how it was said. 2️⃣ A short email is not a sign someone is upset with you. Fill in blanks with a neutral version, not worst case. 3️⃣ Vague feedback is not feedback. "Can you show me what you would like me to do differently?" gives you something to work with. Replaying an ambiguous comment for three days does not. 4️⃣ Know the difference between a pattern and a bad day. One piece of critical feedback is information. Same comment from five different people is a signal. Most women treat both the same way. 5️⃣ Responding before you have processed never lands the way you think it will. Wait. Then respond. I am a former corporate recruiter turned career coach for women. I help women leave roles they have outgrown and land somewhere that actually fits. Comment COACH for one of my next 5 coaching spots. #careers #careercoach #jobsearch #careeradvice #jobs --- how to stop taking things personally at work why ambitious women overthink feedback at work career coach for women navigating difficult managers and feedback how to build emotional resilience at work as a woman portfolio career coach for corporate women ready to level up
