Now I understand Hal. Hal was afraid to let go of his ring because he feared he is nothing without it and will repeat his father’s fate if he lets go. That’s why he didn’t want to pass it down to next generation (John). But I think Hal is special, he didn’t kill himself. That scene in the end hints - where young Hal comes back after the funeral to hold onto the baseball ⚾️.His father told to let go, but Hal came back for it. It symbolises all what makes Hal who he is: The Greatest Green Lantern ever lived- he is broken,alone, forgotten.. Despite all that, he overcomes and fights all that, every single day. Because he is HIM. He just don’t see it to often in him. This show is just so damn amazing to me.
