@dr_inna: Today, we learn new ways to stereotype people, and see how I struggle with the notion of what NPCs are supposed to be because I am too much of a Dungeon Crawler Karl fan now. Also, is SCA a LARP? I don’t actually think so, but some do. #creatorsearchinsights
Also given that masking is a common component of autism, it seems silly to try to claim that it’s only neurotypicals ‘faking’ or ‘pretending’ to get by in life. It seems like something anyone can do and does.

The moment someone genuinely calls an actual human being (as in not a video game character) a NPC, I instantly disregard whatever they're saying. 🤷

People confuse being a poser with larping, I bet that's what he means and it really annoys me when people do that. They just hop on using new slang they don't know how to use

I guess by "larping" they mean being pretentious about having consumed certain media without actually having consumed it for social validation which then again isn't really doing much cuz larping is a universal activity and everyone can larp

Did he mean larping as in they are role playing a lifestyle or personality to seem cool or likeable? Not standing up for him, but I don’t think he meant things like DnD or cosplaying

i literally do not know what he could possibly mean that someone spends their life larping in this way. me larping living my life in real life literally just *is* living my life. i am roleplaying myself in the real world. thats living life.

And as a neurotypical, which probably has nothing to do with what I’m going to say next, I hate faking. I am genuinely happy a lot, and when I am, I show it. And when I’m not, I don’t pretend to be happy. If I try, it falls flat. So yeah, he’s full of it.

I have never heard these terms before. My psych degree was twenty years ago though and I did not keep up with it. I don’t understand.

what a breeze of fresh air to see you on my fyp! Are you ever planning to do an educational series? I love your perspective and how you explain the science, It’s so nice learning from a reliable source without having to worry about false claims and pop-psych myths so as a follower of yours I would love an educational series

Faking your energy is not always bad… i fake energy to be able to stay awake or just be able to focus.. that’s pretty normal.. mabye not the way i do it. I sometimes fake being and or energetic in order to make me feel better. I pretend to be more happy and or energetic than I really feel I think like I would when i was happy I smile talk to people and surprisingly it sometimes works

I have been an NPC (crew/you are helping the gms create the story) in a larp haha. would definitely agree the amount of diagnosed neurodivergence is much higher, let alone undiagnosed. one woman I knew didn't think she could have ADHD for ages because "that's how everyone is" but it turned out all the specific people she was comparing herself to had adhd

I’m a nerd, with ADHD…. I also like to win, and I work in customer service so I’m constantly pretending to be happy or concerned or whatever I need to be… it has nothing to do with being neurotypical and everything to do with being human. Neurotypical as far as I’m aware (and I don’t have any degrees) just means that you don’t have any mental health symptoms that significantly impact your ability to function in a measurable way. Even that is an oversimplification because you can be anxious without having clinical anxiety, wallow in you sadness when something bad happens without having depression, ect
