I used to not understand her. but after reading the comics, not to mention: 1. she refused at first but Ozai threatened to kill her current boyfriend at the time 2. Zuko and Azula were probably assault babies. There was no warmth in this marriage at all and he called her Fire Nation property the day of their wedding 3. the wedding was rushed. her family was not allowed to come. she was alone and ozai told her that if she wrote back, went back her family would be killed. to forget them bc shes a princess of the fire nation now 4. she was completely isolated and alone. iroh mentioned he used to drink tea with her but Iroh was gone around the months leading up to her banishment. she befriended her servant girl and basically confided in her saying she wished Zuko was by her old boyfriend and when she sees him, she sees the gentleness of her home and her old boyfriend. the servant girl told it to Ozai, who then told her he would grant her wish. Zuko would be nothing to him and at that point forward he was always extra horrible to him 5. Being a parent wasnt what she had wanted. ursa was like 19 when she got married. she had no choice but to constantly protect Zuko as his dad was always horrible to him. He was distant to Azula when she was a baby but he only came around when he saw how awesome she could bend. Even after she got banished, in the books, she begged for both of her babies to come. and ozai said he would kill all of them, her whole village if she did. so the only thing she could do was just vanish. Even after she got her face changed amd her memories, she was automatically plagued with guilt when seeing Azula and Zuko. She couldnt remember them but she said she felt they were done a disservice. her new daughter was terrified of her, azula was so mentally gone, that even this new life, this new baby she wanted was all taken from her because of Ozai. Women and children always pay the biggest price in war

Ursa is so tragic. People don't put two and two together that she was 🍇ed by Ozai constantly, which is how zuko and Azula were born...either that or a small part of Ozai loved Ursa and she came to like him enough to have children with him, which I highly doubt was ever the case....

I personally have my own arguments with how Urs chose to approach things with Azula, but me finding flaws in her doesn’t mean I don’t like her as a character or truly feel for her and what she had to go through. I can understand she is complicated and a victim in her own right and personally, I think the fact that she isn’t perfect is not only more realistic but makes her a more dynamic character

hate it when azula fans blame her like her LIFE is ruined. she possibly suffers from extreme ptsd and seeing azula be "cruel" reminded her too much of ozai which is why they could ever form a bond despite both if them wanting to
