The liquid usually reaches as far as your fingers, which are holding the tube, are placed. If you hold the tube by the cap, the liquid goes all the way up and gets evenly mixed.

You can also just start by vortexing it on its side and then rotate it vertically

Other tips in the comments have helped too, but I’ve often found that when this happens, it’s because I’m holding the tube too far down. Holding by just the very top allows the whole tube to move, maximizing the vortex motion.

hold at the TOP and press hard. the vortex ends where your fingers touch the tube so if u dont hold it on the sides, the vortex will reach the bottom

This is partly why I never use the touch activate setting, I just switch to on, whizz my sample for x amount of time, then back to touch for other people who use it
