Genuine question because many of my coworkers/friends are horrible with maintaining their rigs. I clean my pcs every 3-5 months and by cleaning i just use a cloth micro fiber and blow duster to remove the dust off after powering down, disconnecting psu, holding down the power botton for 10 seconds for left over charge. Clean every 3 months if I constantly used it, 5 if rarely touched it. Ive stuck to changing my cpu thermal paste every 2 years. Ive done this routine for over 4 years now I've had no issues doing this across my main rig (4 years in my possession), my wife's (2 years), and my mini itx living room (10 months). What is the correct way to clean the dust in a desktop pc/maintain it?
Asking for I been told the way how I do it is dangerous and wrong I dont hold my fans when using an air duster and another said I dont take out the cmos battery before starting to clean.
I've told others to keep up the upkeep of their pcs after seeing on 3 different occasions cleaning a pc ruins it but after some discussion I just want to be sure im doing everything I can and should be doing.
