that’s the weirdest issue i’ve seen with a pc. a bad USBC cable? nuts. good find though.

Oh, I have seen that before; sometimes when they make those types of cables, they use too much solder, which creates a connection at the port causing that. It's rare, but QC doesn't catch those since thousands of those cables are made each day, to be honest.

I’ve run into this issue before actually, more common with Asus boards

I have had this problem before on my system before and come to find out that the cable for the front I owe it’s OK, but apparently the little circuit board that they use. There was a spot of solder that allowed it to short circuit to the metal case grounding it out which caused the over surge protection to go off. I just got my soldering iron cleaned up the extra solder and solve my problem.

I've had a type c connector brick an old mobo, something must have shorted board side after the front panel connector because it always showed the overcurrent warning after that, even with nothing connected 🙁

I don't get it. you go through all that and don't replace the cable

Why would someone send their whole pc off to a guy to look at before disconnecting the usb cables? It literally told them that the usb is the problem

I had the same problem with ROG motherboard, I needed to a splitter for my Corsair hub that used a 12pin but I split that and even without using that splitter. Ended up being the motherboard and I returned it and the next motherboard worked just fine
