@momomoko_jp: Not the chopsticks, not the shoes. The five that actually run your week, and the one line for each: 🏥 SICK — fever? Not the hospital, the clinic. Walk into a university-level hospital without a referral and it's ¥7,000+ on top. Corner クリニック first: insurance card at the desk, you pay 30%, often no appointment. Serious? They write the referral. Can't breathe, chest pain? Call 119 🔔 THE DOOR — you don't have to open it. Intercom first; not expecting anyone, いりません (irimasen) = I don't need it. Expecting a package? They say おにもつです (onimotsu desu) 🔥 MOVE-IN DAY — no gas appointment, no hot water. Lights and water work on arrival; gas only opens when a technician visits and you're home. Book the 開栓 (kaisen) visit the day you sign — spring slots fill a week out. Tokyo Gas and Osaka Gas take the booking in English; smaller companies by phone 🤫 10 PM — the walls are paper. Washer, vacuum, music, calls: done by 10. Complaints go to your landlord, not to you 🚲 THE BIKE — register it, in your name. The shop does it when you buy (¥660 in Tokyo). Used bike? Re-register it that day, or the next police check reads someone else's name. Stopped? これは じぶんの じてんしゃです (kore wa jibun no jitensha desu) = it's mine Save this before you move 🔖 📲 Practice いりません and おにもつです out loud — search "Kana Language Partner" in your app store Which one got you? 👇 #movingtojapan #livinginjapan #japanlife
