There’s a book called The Gift of Fear and it basically talks about how biologically our bodies KNOW when something isn’t right, and to trust your gut. It’s written by a former behavioral analyst in the FBI. Your gut is ALWAYS right! It’s fascinating. I think we brush it off because we think it couldn’t happen to us

I'm sorry but if I notice the same person from Ross and Walmart I'm calling the police, not my husband.

My daughter and I had a strange experience at the TJ Max in the Jantzen Beach center a few months ago. My daughter wanted to look at the nail things on the next isle over from me. I started hearing her talking to someone. I looked around and saw a woman asking her personal questions and trying to strike up a conversation with her about fashion by complementing her on her clothes and hair and things. As soon as she saw me, she looked nervous and started saying, oh I was just saying how cute her outfit is and then took off. She lurked around the store watching us the whole time. My daughter is only 11. It’s not normal for a grown woman in her 30’s to walk up to a child and ask personal questions about her age and go into detail trying to befriend them taking about how pretty she is. It caught me off guard. It took me a little while to realize that she was probably a sex trafficker looking for young vulnerable kids. I’ve never been shopping in Oregon since. I stay in Washington close to home. I’ve never had a problem with our Ross or TJ Max.

This happened to us too. Also at a Ross. (I wonder if they pick that store for a reason, I’ve heard about them following people in Target too, and there was one next door at this shopping center.) Guy was kinda following us around inside Ross. He was on the phone speaking in Spanish the whole time but I wasn’t really listening to him bc inside the store I was only minimally aware of him and my senses were just starting to go off. After a while it freaked me out so we left without buying anything. It was just me and my two young children. He must have seen what we pulled up in, bc when I went outside I didn’t see HIM but I did see a white truck that hadn’t been there when I walked in parked right behind me. There was a woman and a tall bald man in sunglasses standing outside the truck. The man was on the phone and the woman was trying to get my attention. I ignored her and went an unusual way around my car to hurriedly get the kids in, so that I could have them both within arms reach away from the truck. The man on the phone was also speaking Spanish. Well…I don’t look it, but I’m actually Hispanic on my mom’s side. She doesn’t speak Spanish but all of my aunts and uncles and my grandparents do so although it isn’t my first language, I understand it perfectly. I couldn’t hear him well but I could hear every few words, and he was say things that could have described me- my hair, how many kids, talking about directions. I FREAKED TF out and left my cart where it was and got in my car. I watched as they pulled out behind me and knew in my gut they were following me. So I took the longest way around possible. I called my husband with my voice shaking. He talked the sense into me to call the police. I think I threw the people off by taking erratic turns down a random neighborhood. The police were trying to give me directions to a police station but I wasn’t super familiar with the area, so instead I did a bold U turn very suddenly and SPED onto the freeway in the farthest direction from where they were. I didn’t see them again after that. They never found me bc I kept driving for like an hour after that to be completely sure I’d lost them.

I just moved here from eastern Oregon and I’ve heard about these things from different sources. The first week of school (I’m in medical school) I was late to a lot of my classes because I made sure to drop off my kids to their schools myself even tho they’re only blocks from my house. I know it’s not location specific but my gut just told me, “the neighborhood might seem quiet, but don’t take the risk” and I told some of my classmates about how I’m super vigilant of my surroundings here and especially my kids and some of them laughed like I was being dramatic. Mind you they don’t have kids. Idgaf my gut feeling supersedes anything else. You did good momma!!! And hell no don’t ever trust cops.

My mom was followed by someone at the Ross on tualatin valley highway in Hillsboro, he followed her from the parking lot into the store and then proceeded to follow her around the store. He ended up having to be escorted out by security. Some how the next day she found out that he had been arrested for doing the same thing except he actually tried to kidnap someone.

The Ross in Gresham has some great finds, BUT i’ve had some bizarre experiences there! A few months ago, there were a couple men there with about 5 girls aging in range from 9 years old to 15 years old. I had the worst feeling in my gut. These girls were not clean, and their outfits were disturbing to say the least. The youngest was wearing some sort of very short bloomers, a sports bra, and high heel shoes. One of the girls was wearing a training bra with a zip up hoodie over it, but the hoodie was not zipped at all. The girls were looking through the clothing very fast with their heads down, and one of the men said, “pick your clothes quickly. You’re in big trouble if you go over budget.” when they had picked out some clothes, both men followed them to the dressing room, and waited right in front of the women’s changing room exit/entrance. The body language was all wrong, and the vibes were creepy and weird. I told security about their group, and he responded, “I know. We’ve been watching them. Lots of customers are very concerned, and so are we. We’ve called the police.” I actually called the human trafficking hotline when I got to my car. Very upsetting. I’ve seen other things like that there before.😞💔

Omg I already knew what you were going to talk about before you even started the story. I had something similar happen to me too in Portland, near 162nd area, and I agree they work together in groups. I felt crazy but it turned out exactly as I feared. Had 2 guys following me and I Had to hide in a port a potty with my 2 dogs and call the police or I don't think I would have made it home. It's scary to know it's this close. You hear stuff but to experience it is a whole other thing.

Girly let me tell you this is happening all the time I had two males try to literally yank my son out of my arms when he was 4 yrs old it was absolutely the scariest thing of my life luckily I had been paying attention and had seen them following me and luckily there were a lot of other people around at the max station park and ride when it happened because a group of people helped me get the man off my son and called the police at the Gresham park and ride and just do your research of the trafficker a that have been arrested in Portland in the last year it's scary

Something similar happened at a Ross in Vancouver, WA. Same thing, my daughter noticed a man that was in every single aisle with us and asked that I hold her hand because she felt uncomfortable; he was specifically watching her, smiling & waved at her. My sister was with us but walking around doing her own thing so I started to walk around looking for her and he followed us everywhere. When we found my sister, I loudly mentioned that my daughter was uncomfortable because it seemed like a man was following us around (he was pretending to look at things about 4-5 ft away from us the in aisle). My sister said she was going to let the security/loss prevention guy know and the guy dropped whatever was in his hands and took off running! We still mentioned it to the loss prevention guy and he told us that the guy that ran out of the store hopped into a vehicle that was waiting for him outside the store. We went to a nearby Starbucks and chilled there until my husband got to us.

I had a similar situation happen to me at the tanasborune Ross. Followed right behind me thought he was going to touch me… I stopped and turned around and he walked right past me as if he was coincidentally walking the same way I was going…
